The New Microsoft Edge’s Extensions

Pratyusha Avadhanula, senior program manager with the Microsoft Edge extension team, recently walked developers through the new extension submitting process. Avadhanula detailed in her talk at Microsoft Build 2020 the registration process, the differences between the Chromium APIs and the new Microsoft Edge APIs, and the features roadmap. Ink, the React renderer for interactive command-line apps, recently announced version 3 with new built-in hooks enable better focus and stream management (e.g. stdin) in the terminal. Developers can leverage the React development tools to inspect the output of an Ink app. Ink 3 also features updated components that allow for better styling of CLIs, built-in error handler and log interception, and other performance and stability improvements.

Eventuate Platform Adds Support for Micronaut, Enhanced Developer Tooling and Improved Performance

Eventuate.io has formally released a new version of the Eventuate platform. It ships with a host of new significant features including addition of support for Micronaut to the Eventuate Tram/Local frameworks, upgrade to Java 14 and Spring Boot 2.2.6, enhanced developer tooling using a new Spring Boot-based starter service and finally greatly improved performance and observability metrics for the Eventuate CDC component.

JetBrains Release IntelliJ 2020.2

JetBrains have just rolled out IntelliJ IDEA 2020.2: the latest version of its popular integrated development environment (IDE). Among many features, the release promises reviewing and merging GitHub pull requests right from inside the IDE, quick navigation between warnings and errors in a file with the Inspections widget, viewing the full list of issues in a current file with the Problems tool window, and getting notifications in case your changes would break other files. You can use Jakarta EE, and get better support for Quarkus, Micronaut, and OpenAPI.
